QUETTA: The Balochistan Charity and Regulation Authority (BCRA) has cancelled the registration of all NGOs and welfare organisations previously registered with the provincial department of social welfare.

According to BCRA Director General Saleem Khosa, around 1,500 entities including NGOs, foundations, trusts, madrassas, mosques, associations, and community organisations must now re-register with the charity authority by July 31.

Mr Khosa said that the organisations operating without registration after the deadline would face action by deputy commissioners, who had already been granted powers to impose penalties including up to one-year imprisonment, a fine of Rs2 million, or both.
