LAHORE/OKARA/TOBA TEK SINGH: Six suspected robbers were allegedly killed during separate encounters with the Crime Control Department (CCD) of Lahore, Okara and Faisalabad on Wednesday.

In the Kahna area, police claimed that notorious criminal Fazalur Rehman and his son Ameer Abass were allegedly shot dead by the firing of their own accomplices.

A CCD official said that a police team was taking the suspects for recovery of weapons and looted items when their armed accomplices attacked the police. He said the police also opened fire which led to an encounter after which they found the two suspects dead.

The official claimed that Fazal ur Rehman and his son were residents of Mianwali and involved in more than 100 street crime cases. The CCD official said that in another incident that took place in Shahdara area, a police team was taking suspected robber Tahir for recovery of weapons when his accomplices attacked the police. During a brief armed clash, the suspect was allegedly killed by the firing of the attackers, he said, adding that his body was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile in Okara, the police claimed that during a routine patrol of a CCD team at Okara-Jabooka Road on Tuesday night, four suspects opened fire on the policemen.

CCD District Office Mahar Muhammad Yousaf said the team retaliated and after the shooting stopped, they found two of the gunmen dead. He claimed that the suspects died by the firing of their accomplices, while two others manged to escape.

The deceased were identified as Ali Sher Wattoo, a record-holder with 72 cases against him, and Sadi Meer Alam, who had 32 cases registered against him.

In Faisalabad, police claimed that arrested robber Hussain Punno was being transported to the police station from Barnala locality after recovery of stolen goods. Police said the police van was attacked by four of his accomplices on motorcycles. Police said the attackers managed to free him from police custody and the team exchanged fire with the attackers.When the firing ended, police found the body of Hussain Pannu. Police said he was alleged killed by the firing of his accomplices.
