PESHAWAR: The business community has demanded of the federal government to launch a special cargo train from Peshawar to Karachi and expedite work on the functioning of Azakhel dry port to clear vehicles with exportable goods.

The demand was made by Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fazal Moqeem Khan and senior vice president and senior executive member Ziaul Haq Sarhadi in a joint statement issued here on Friday.

The SCCI leaders welcomed the launch of the Khushal Khan Khattak Express train from Peshawar and declared the initiative an important step towards improving the economic development of the Pakistan Railways.

They also said the move would provide a better and comparatively cheapest travel facility and services to the business community and other people of the province.
