RAWALPINDI: Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Health retired Major General Azhar Mehmood Kayani on Monday directed the medical staff of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) to be punctual at outpatient departments.

He said the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was trying to provide quality health facilities to the people. “Medical officers should ensure attendance in their respective wards, negligence will not be tolerated,” he said.

He conducted a surprise visit to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. He made a detailed visit to male and female emergency wards, CCU, OPD, laboratory, male and female surgical ward, general ward, operation theater and other departments.

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health reviewed the provision of health facilities in RIC. He inquired about the treatment facilities from the hospitalised patients.

Addressing the medical staff of the institute the adviser said: “RIC is a world-class standard and exemplary cardiology hospital. Medical officers should ensure attendance in their respective wards, careless referrals will not be entertained. There is a zero tolerance for those who do not work,”.

He said the cleanliness of the hospital is commendable. Quality and timely treatment is the right of every patient. All the staff should work as a team to improve the treatment.

He appreciated the passion of the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to serve the suffering humanity.

He said that the emergency treatment in Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology is completely free. Anytime he will make a surprise visit, he will take disciplinary action if he found staff negligent and careless, he said.
