SUKKUR: An ‘influential’ government employee has illegally started construction of his house on a piece of plot on the premises of a government girls’ high school in Jacobabad under the very noses of the officers concerned.

Sources said that the employee of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited had raised the construction of his house close to the office of taluka education officer (female) within the school premises.

People of the area had repeatedly complained to the education department officers as the illegal construction started but neither any official of the education department nor officials concerned of district administration, including deputy commissioner Zahoor Ali Mari had taken any notice of the occupation and construction on the plot of the government school.

The sources said that it appeared the encroacher had greased the palms of several officials of the departments concerned before making the move to occupy the plot and have the construction started.

Leaders of political, social and religious parties of Jacobabad demanded district sessions judge, DC, and other high officials of the education department take serious notice of encroachment on the government plot and immediately stop construction on it.

They appealed them to take stern action against the influential encroacher so that no one else dared occupy a government school’s land in future.
