ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Aamer Farooq on Thursday sought assistance from the attorney general on a petition filed by journalist Hamid Mir seeking the investigation of Arshad Sharif’s murder by a judicial commission.

Earlier, Justice Farooq after preliminary hearing on the petition sought the order sheets of the Supreme Court’s suo motu notice on the murder case. During the course of hearing, counsel for Mr Mir read out some of the order sheets.

Meanwhile, the court was told that Imran Riaz Khan and Siddique Jan had also submitted applications to become party in the petition.

Justice Farooq remarked: “If Mir sahib’s petition was not enough.”

He then asked the counsel to assist if a high court can proceed in a matter pending before the Supreme Court.

The chief justice issued notice to the attorney general and adjourned further hearing.

The petition requested the court to issue orders to the concerned officials to establish a judicial commission for transparent investigation into the murder case.
