Minister introduces five initiatives to facilitate citizens of Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced five major initiatives for the facilitation of citizens, provide them with the best possible services and make the capital a model city.

During his visit to the CDA Headquarters, the minister announced that the Capital Emergency Services, Capital Waste Management Company, Capital Safe City Authority, Central Business District (CBD) and Capital Wasa would be established, says a press release issued on Tuesday.

It said that Mohsin Naqvi gave a special task to CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Mohammad Ali Randhawa in this regard.

During his visit, the interior minister also met with the staff of Ambulance 1122 and the Fire Brigade and urged them to perform their duties diligently and efficiently. He said the emergency services, including ambulance service, fire brigade and water rescue service would be integrated under the Capital Emergency Services. Residents can avail the emergency services by dialing 1122.

A unified emergency control room will be established, and GPS tracking will be used to monitor the movement of vehicles. Moreover, special attention will be given to the training of staff in this regard, the press release said.

It further said the interior minister also directed the establishment of new stations for Emergency Service 1122 in Islamabad and ordered merit-based recruitment for approved vacant positions. He stated that the number of ambulances in Islamabad would also be increased.

CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon and other officials of emergency services were also present on the occasion.
