KHUZDAR: An earthquake of moderate intensity hit different areas of Khuzdar district on Monday night, damaging over a dozen mud houses.

According to metrological department officials, the intensity was 5.5 at the Richter scale and its epicentre was in Wadh area.

They said the earthquake struck the district at 9pm, forcing the people to run for safety outside their homes and take refuge in open places. Nal, Wadh, Bardri, Ornacj and some other parts of Khuzdar district were hit by the earthquake.

Reports reaching here from the affected areas suggested that over a dozen mud houses were partially damaged in Wadh, but no loss of life was reported from any part of the district.

“We have sent Levies teams to different areas to assess the damage.” a senior official of Wadh tehsil told Dawn. Published in Dawn, December 5th, 2023
