TOBA TEK SINGH: A breast cancer awareness walk was organised by the teachers and students of the Government College University of Faisalabad.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Amin said breast cancer was not an incurable disease, and with timely diagnosis, treatment and attention, it could be defeated.

He called for immediate measures to prevent breast cancer, urging the government to establish special desks and blocks to provide diagnostic and early treatment facilities at hospitals.

Dr Hassan Mahmood, Dr Haroon Khalid and Dr Uzma also addressed the participants.

GUN ATTACK: The brother of a stage actress was killed in a gun attack late on Wednesday in Faisalabad by four car riders.

Reports said Mala Jan, a stage drama actress, was travelling in her car towards Samundri Road from GTS Chowk overhead bridge when four unidentified car riders, who had been following her, opened fire with a Kalashnikov.

Ms Jan’s younger brother, 21-year-old Muhammad Zohaib, sustained gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to the DHQ Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Batala Colony police registered a case against the attackers on a complaint by Jan’s makeup man Faisal Rashid.

CASE: The Tandlianwala City police in Faisalabad booked the principals of Government High School No 1 and the Government MC High School No 1 -- Abdul Rashid Toor and Muhammad Yar -- along with eight teachers.

They are accused of closing their schools and inciting students to hold a rally to voice teachers’ demands.

Complainant ASI Ashiq Ali in his FIR alleged that the 10 suspects led the rally, causing traffic disruptions on various Tandlianwala roads.

Simultaneously, teachers and employees of different provincial government departments continued their protests and rallies for their demands on Thursday, causing disruptions in educational activities across the Faisalabad division. They demanded the withdrawal of the proposed privatization of government schools and changes to leave encashment and pension rules.

The protesters sealed the main entrances of the schools, and their leaders announced that lockouts, sit-ins, and demonstrations would persist until their demands are met.

They also demanded the immediate release of leaders and activists who were arrested during a sit-in outside the Civil Secretariat in Lahore.

Injured: Qari Khalid Mujahid, vice president of Punjab Jamiat Ahl-i-Hadees from Pattoki, and his companion Muhammad Aqeel were injured after unidentified assailants fired upon their car in Faisalabad.

According to the Jaranwala Sadar police, the attack occurred near Alipur Bangla. They were shifted to the Jaranwala THQ hospital for medical treatment.

PASS OUT: Two sanitary workers passed out due to the accumulation of poisonous gas when they entered a sewerage line manhole for cleaning in the Punjab Government Employees’ Housing Society on Satiana Road.

Rescue 1122 provided first aid to Saqib, aged 20, and Sahil, aged 18, and later shifted them to the DHQ hospital.

ACCIDENT: A bus overturned after colliding with a truck on Toba Tek Singh-Jhang Road on Thursday, resulting in injuries to 15 passengers.

According to Rescue 1122, first aid was administered on the spot to most of the passengers, while five critically wounded passengers were shifted to the DHQ hospital.

They were identified as Abdul Ghaffar, Farhan Rashid, Shan Ali, Waseem Gul, and Mansoor Ahmad.
