PESHAWAR: A robber was killed and another was arrested following an exchange of fire between them and the Ababeel Squad of the police on Bank Road here on Monday.

Superintendent of Police (operations) Rohan Zaib Khan told mediapersons that Waqar Ali Shah, a resident of Jhanday area, was on his way to deposit Rs1.5 million in a bank when Abdullah alias Amir from Akora Khattak and Yousaf from Ambar locality of Swabi district attempted to snatch the amount from him.

“Waqar Ali shouted and asked for help from the police. The robbers tried to run but they were chased by the personnel of the Ababeel Squad,” SP Zaib Khan said, adding that the robbers started firing at the squad.

He said that following an exchange of fire, Abdullah was killed on the spot, while Yousaf sustained injuries, and was arrested.

The police officer said that a case was also registered.

SP Khan said that Abdullah was wanted in other robbery cases to different police stations.
