OKARA: Two men were killed and four others were injured in separate rain-related incidents in the district on Friday.

A farmer died after being struck with lightning at Chak 4/1-L in the suburb of Renala Khurd.

Nazir Ahmed was cutting fodder in the fields with his young son when heavy hailstorm and thunderstorm started. Lightning struck Nazir, killing him on the spot. His son remained safe.

Rain and thunderstorm affected wheat crop across the district, including the areas of Okara, Dipalpur and Renala Khurd.

In another incident, a man was killed while four were injured as a mosque wall collapsed during the heavy rain at village Phularwan Kamboh on the Dipalpur-Pakpattan road.

As per the Rescue 1122, the wall collapse left five men injured. The rescuers rushed to the village, retrieved the injured with the help of villagers and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Dipalpur.

The injured were identified as Muhammad Ahmad, 40, Aslam, 35, Abdul Hannan, 34, Waris Ali, 40 and Muhammad Asif, 32. Asif succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

ACCIDENTS: Two persons were killed and five were injured in separate accidents.

A motorcycle-rickshaw collided with a harvester while crossing it near village Massanky on the Gogera-Jandraka road. As a result of the accident, 15-year-old student Shoaib died on the spot while the rickshaw driver was shifted to City DHQ Hospital by rescuers.

A motorcyclist, identified as Asim, 30, collided with a donkey cart near Jakkhar Chowk on the Okara-Faisalabad road. He was killed on the spot.

On the same road near the Baba Farid Sugar Mills, two motorcycles had a head-on collision. As a result of the accident, four riders of both motorcycles suffered injuries. They were shifted to the City DHQ Hospital.

MISSING: A woman went missing along with her two minor daughters.

As per the first information report, complainant Ali Akbar, a resident of village Othwal Jagir, had gone Dipalpur on March 20. His wife, Bilqees, along with her minor daughters went to drop her three-year-old daughter at the village school but did not return home.

The complainant, along with family, searched for his missing wife and two daughters but could not trace them. The Ravi police registered a case.
