ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet will meet today (Thursday) with a five-point agenda, mainly focusing on the power sector and austerity.

However, in the wake of the apex court’s directions to ensure election in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the topic may also feature heavily during discussions at the executive forum.

According to the agenda of the meeting, the cabinet will also review a report on the recent power breakdown across the country; electricity theft and line losses; energy conservation measures and a presentation on exploring the possibility of doubling the electricity rates for commercial areas after official closing time; National Clean Air Policy and ratification of decisions taken by the cabinet committee for disposal of legislative cases (CCLC) in its meeting held on Jan 6, 2023, including a draft bill for the establishment of National University of Pakistan.
