TAXILA: City Police Officer (CPO) Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari on Monday suspended an investigating officer of Wah Saddar police over faulty probe in an abduction and murder case, police said on Monday.

The CPO also ordered a departmental inquiry against him and sent him to district police lines.

Abdul Rehman, a property dealer, was allegedly kidnapped by his partner over a monetary dispute from New City area on Dec 5. Later his body was found from a deserted place near Mirza village on Dec 7. Police had registered a case against the accused under anti-terrorism act (7-ATA).

According to the victim’s family members, SI Nazar Mohammad took Rs3 million from the accused to declare them innocent.

The family members appeared before the CPO, who ordered suspension of the IO and directed him to report to district Police Lines.
