MANSEHRA: A common leopard was injured after it slipped from a mountain and fell on the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road here on Sunday.

The animal was shifted to the Dhodial wildlife peasantry for medical examination.

“It was a four-year-old male common leopard, which fell from the mountains of Malkandi national park in Kaghan valley as the wildcat couldn’t control itself while chasing a grey goral on a slope,” wildlife department’s divisional forest officer Taimur Shah told reporters.

Witnesses said the leopard fell down on the road from the forested mountains of Malkandi national park and attempted to flee but fell unconscious after a while.

Motorists and passersby assembled near the unconscious leopard and started making pictures of it and taking selfies besides it.

The Kaghan Development Authority’s staff also reached the spot and shifted the leopard to the wildlife department’s peasantry in Dodial.

“We have started physical examination of the leopard and did not find any bullet wound on the animal’s body,” Taimur Shah said.

He said the leopard was still unconscious. “I have informed my high-ups about the incident and all possible efforts are being made to save the leopard’s life,” he added.

The wildlife department official said a small wound was found on the head of leopard with some bleeding.
