QUETTA: The female lawmakers of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) on Thursday condemned the suicide bombing at the Karachi University two days ago, and termed the incident an attempt to tarnish the image of Baloch nation.

The suicide bombing, carried out by a woman, left three Chinese and a Pakistani van driver dead.

“I never thought that any Baloch woman can do such a horrible thing. This incident is an attempt to keep Baloch women backward. The attacker Shari Baloch was mentally ill,” Ms Bushra Rind, Adviser to Balochistan chief minister said, while speaking at a press conference at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday along with MNA Zubaida Jalal, Senator Sana Jamali and parliamentary secretaries Bushra Rind, Mahjabeen Sheeran and Laila Tareen.

Ms Bushra Rind said that the husband of suicide bomber Shari Baloch had been arrested and he had said that his wife was a mentally ill patient who was taking medicines.

“We are all Muslims. The suicide bombing is forbidden in any situation and external forces have always tried to make the situation in Balochistan worse,” the adviser said.
