SWABI: The candidate of Qaumi Watan Party for tehsil mayor slot in the recently held local bodies’ polls, Imtiaz Zeb, joined Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) here on Monday.

On the occasion, JUI-F organised a huge gathering in Baja village and its leaders and workers from across the district attended it.

The JUI-F leaders said that the decision of Imtiaz Zeb would have far-reaching impacts on the coming general elections as more people were expected to join the party.

“I challenge Asad Qaiser, speaker of National Assembly, to hold debate with me in Swabi Karnal Sher Chowk in presence of all people that PTI has served the people more in the district or JUI-F,” Maulana Fazal Ali, central deputy chief of JUI-F, told the ceremony.

He alleged that the ruling party sold State Bank to International Monetary Fund. “It is tantamount to economic murder of the country. PTI leadership has also caused other great damage to the country,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Imtiaz Zeb said that he held talks with his supporters and friends before making the decision to join JUI-F.

KILLED: A woman was killed and his brother was seriously injured when their house collapsed in Pajman village of mountainous region Gadoon Amazai here on Sunday night.

Saeedullah, one of their neighbours, told Dawn by telephone that Ali Mohammad, 46, and his sister, Sultana Bibi, 35, were sitting in their house late Sunday when its roof suddenly caved-in and both of them were buried under the debris.

The villagers retrieved them after hectic efforts but they found that Sultana Bibi was killed and Ali Mohammad was still alive.

The injured was taken to district headquarters hospital where the doctors said that his condition was critical and might be shifted to Peshawar.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old fruit seller, who was injured in exchange of fire between two groups near Panjpir bus stop, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, taking the total number of deaths in the incident to three.

The deceased, Ibrahim Khan, belonged to Seenkhel village.
