ISLAMABAD: Two patients lost their battle against Covid-19 while 60 more contracted the virus during the last 24 hours in the federal capital and Rawalpindi.

The weekly positivity rate in Islamabad dropped to 1.39pc compared to 1.56pc reported during the previous week.

District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia said the infection ratio had fallen in the capital and so far 84pc of the eligible population above 12 years old was either partially for fully vaccinated.

According to officials of the capital administration, one person died and 45 got infected with the virus in the capital. The deceased was a male resident of G-11 and was in the age group of 60-69, the officials said.

During the last 24 hours 3,064 tests were conducted out of which results of 45 people came back positive, showing a positivity rate of 1.46pc.

On the other hand, Rawalpindi also reported a casualty from Covid-19 and 15 more cases during the last 24 hours. The positivity rate remained 1pc in the district.

As many as 29 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from coronavirus.

A total of 1,478 samples were collected out of which results of 15 people came back positive.

According to data, Kausar Bibi, 49, a resident of Murree, was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Oct 15 where she died the next day. The data further revealed that there were 247 active patients in the district with 38 being treated in hospitals and the rest home isolated.

As many as five Covid-19 patients arrived from the city areas, eight from Potohar Town while one patient each came from Kallar Syedan and Murree.

As many as 38 patients were admitted to city hospitals out of whom one was in Holy Family Hospital, 11 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 19 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and seven patients were under treatment in Fauji Foundation Hospital.

There are three patients on ventilator, 20 in need of oxygen and 15 are stable.
