PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Ziaul Haq has said a sub-campus will soon be established in Islamabad.

He expressed these views while addressing a joint meeting of the heads of all the constituent institutes and departments of KMU, according to a statement issued here on Friday.

Registrar KMU Dr Mohammad Saleem Gandapur also attended the meeting.

Heads of the institutes and departments presented their performance reports and future action plans.

On the occasion, Prof Haq said besides a four-year BS programme in public health a two-year master’s programme in health profession education would also be launched in the Islamabad campus from the upcoming academic session.

He said the purpose of holding the meeting was to bring together the heads of all the constituent institutions and departments of the university on a single platform to find a solution to the problems by consensus.

He said teaching and clinical facilities as well as academic and research activities at the Institute of Medical and Dental Sciences, Kohat, would be further organised and coordinated.

He said a state-of-the-art physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre would be set up at IPMR old campus to provide quality services in the public sector. A high-level committee was also constituted to prepare a feasibility report of the proposed centre.

Prof Haq said the KMU had also established its campuses in Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Swabi and Swat districts.

He directed the office of research, innovation, and commercialisation to prepare its five-year strategic plan as soon as possible and get it approved by the relevant forums. He also stressed upon all the academic institutions and administrative departments of the university to have close liaison in expeditious completion of long-pending projects.
