KARACHI: The decomposed body of a 35-year-old man, who had gone missing around two months ago from Clifton, was found in a Keamari house on Saturday, according to police.

They added that the body of Jehangir Ahmed was recovered from a house in Ashfaq Colony of Gulshan-i-Sikanderabad. The corpse was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil legal formalities.

A case (FIR 146/2021) was registered under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Boat Basin police station after his disappearance.

Jackson SHO Malik Adil Khan said that Ahmed worked as a labourer at a construction project in Clifton where he also lived. He had gone missing on Jan 29. He originally belonged to Azad Kashmir.

When the family members could not get a response from his mobile phone for some days, they came to Karachi and lodged a report at the police station.

With help of technology, investigators detained a rickshaw driver, Asif Iqbal, from whose possession the victim’s mobile phone was recovered.

On a lead provided by the suspect, the police recovered the body from a house in Keamari which the suspect was renting.

In their initial report, the police said that the detained suspect told the police that the victim was killed allegedly by his friend over “some personal issues”.

The suspect claimed that he did not kill him but he helped his “friend” in disposing of the body, the SHO said, adding that there were “inconsistencies” in his statement and the police were investigating to ascertain the exact motive of the murder.

Meanwhile, a Pasban spokesperson said that the victim was their supporter.
