SUKKUR: Responding to a call given by the Sindh United Party (SUP), several civil society organisations took out a rally from Clock Tower in Kandhkot on Friday against tribal feuds that had been resulting in bloodshed for decades.
The rally was led by Zurriyat Bijarani, Dilmurad Dahani, Shah Nawaz Marhato and others.
After marching on various roads, the participants converged on the local press club to hold a demonstration.
Speaking to them, the leaders said that countless innocent people had lost their lives in the violent acts committed out of old rivalries and hostility involving various tribes, clans and communities. Besides creating different social problems, such hostilities were spreading terror among people and disturbing children’s studies, they said.
They noted that many localities within cities, towns and villages had become ‘no-go areas’. Such an environment was ultimately causing economic losses to communities, towns and districts, they said.
They appealed to chieftains of all tribes and elders of all communities, as well as elected representatives, commissioners and deputy commissioners to make serious efforts to put a halt to violent acts and get settled all disputes between rival sides.
