OKARA: Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Maulana Saad Rizvi said on Saturday the party had so far been mostly contesting by-polls in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and would participate in the next general elections in the country.

He was talking to the media here at the residence of a local trader, Mian Shukat Ali.

Earlier, he attended a function at Karmanwala, on the invitation of caretaker Syed Nabiur Rehman Shah Bokhari.

He said the TLP was extending its organisation to include lawyers, doctors, engineers and students.

To a query, he said the TLP was firm on its demand for severing diplomatic ties with France, where blasphemous caricatures were published to hurt sentiments of the Ummah as it was within the ambit of law.

He said the TLP wished to unite various organisations of Ahle Sunnat sect under its banner.

Regarding Ruet-i-Hilal Committee former chief Mufti Muneebur Rehman, he said he was changed because of his firm stance on defence of religious seminaries in the backdrop of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) demands.
