ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah has directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) to submit records related to land acquisition of different sectors of Islamabad.

The court was hearing identical petitions filed by land owners seeking compensation of their land, acquired by both authorities.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan informed the court that a commission, that was constituted for recommendation of a mechanism to provide compensation to land owners, had submitted the report before the court.

He said CDA has also been instructed to clear outstanding dues of affected land owners of E-12 and I-12.

Justice Minallah pointed out that some of the affected people had passed away without being compensated.

He also questioned dual standard of the civic agency for depriving women of being compensated against their inherited land.

The court express concern over increasing incidents of land grabbing and lawlessness in the city. Further hearing in this matter has been adjourned till Nov 19.
