OKARA: A woman and her sonwere killed ina traffic accident on Pakpattan-Depalpur Road, while two elderly women were killed after being run over by a Karachi-bound train at Renala Khurd on Monday.

In the first incident, Fakhar Hussain, along with his mother Shamim Bibi, a brother and asister, was on a motor bike on Pakpattan-Depalpur road when it was hit by a car near Allahpur village.

As a result, Fakhar and his mother died on the spot, while his sister Aqsa and brother Bilal suffered injuries. The car occupants --Arshad, Muzammal, Aslam and Allah Ditta were also injured in the accident.

A Rescue 1122 team arriving on the scene shifted the dead bodies and the injured to hospital.

In the second incident, two elderly women--Waziran Bibi, 60, and Nooran Bibi, 55, were crossing the railway track near Basti Rahim Buxh, Renala Khurd, when they were run over by by Karachi-bound Khyber Mai lcoming from Lahore.

Mother, son perish on road

‘ROBBER’ KILLED: Police claim to have killed a robber in an encounter in which a constable also suffered bullet injuries on Sunday midnight on Pir Di Hatti link road in the limits of Renala Khurd Sadar police station.

As per the first information report (FIR) got registered by Sub Inspector Farrakh Shahzad, apatrolling police team received information that two armed robbers were looting people on Pir Di Hatti- Shergarh link road near 2/1L village.

The police team rushed to the spot where robbers had just looted one Irfan, a resident of 18/1L village, and were fleeing towards Shergarh.

The police chased the robbers and near Subhan Housing Scheme had a cross fire with them. As a result, a police Constable, Khalid Ali, suffered bullet injuries to his right shoulder and jaw. The injured policeman was shifted to hospital.

Later, the police claimed to have found the body of one of the robbers near the scene of ‘crossfire’. The police also found the motorbike and a weapon used by the robbers from the scene. The other gunman managed to escape taking advantage of darkness, the police said.

The dead robber was later identified as Muqaddar Hussain of 20/2L village.

On the recommendation of District Police Officer Umer Saeed Malik, Regional Police Officer Humayun Bashir Tarrar announced a cash reward of Rs100,000 and commendation certificate for the critically injured constable.

A case under sections 353, 186, 324, 322 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and section 13-2(a) of the Punjab Arms Amendment Ordinance-2015 and Arms Ordinance 20 of 1965, was registered against the suspects.
