KARAK: Awami National Party provincial additional general secretary Khursheed Khattak has said that they would resist any change to the 18th Amendment and resolved to launch a mass contact campaign after the lockdown was over to mobilise the workers.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, he said that the federating units of the country needed more autonomy instead of rolling back the 18th Amendment.

He recalled that the amendment was the result of a long struggle of ANP for the rights of the province and demanded of the federal government to provide the net hydel profit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that during its seven-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so far the PTI could not launch any mega project in the province except Peshawar BRT, which had become a mega corruption scam.

HEALTH FACILITIES: Elders of Guddikhel union council have demanded provision of staff, medicines and equipment in the local hospital.

The elders, including Ali Khan and Rab Nawaz, told mediapersons here the other day that three of the four sanctioned posts of medical officers in the hospital were vacant. They said that there was no female doctor to resolve medical issues of the womenfolk.

The elders claimed that an X-Ray machine had been installed in the health centre, but it was not used because of staff shortage. The elders demanded that the vacant posts of doctors, particularly female medical officer, should be filled without any delay and the hospital made fully functional.

FARMERS’ ASSOCIATION: The district farmers’ association has demanded of the forest department to grow forests in Chountra area of Karak district to reduce the threat of floods and secure the agricultural lands along natural water channels.

District president of the association Iqbal Khattak told mediapersons here on Wednesday that thousands of acres of barren land were available in Chountra area for growing forests.
