SWABI: Free medical camps for treatment of ailing people would be organised in public sector hospitals across the district.

This was stated by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders here on Tuesday at the conclusion of two-day free medical camp in tehsil headquarters hospital, Topi. They said that the medical camps would be organised with the help of NGOs who would arrange doctors and paramedical staff for the purpose.

Officials in the health department said that the idea of holding such camps was floated by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser who persuaded representatives of welfare bodies to arrange such camps in the constituencies from where he and his brother, MPA Aqibullah Khan, had won the elections.

The camps would be organised at Yar Hussain, Marghuz, Saleem Khan, Sikandari, Diwal and some other areas.

MPAs Rangaiz Khan and Aqibullah Khan said that checkups and tests of the patients would be done free of cost and they would also be given medicines. Ahmad Ali, a patient in Topi camp, said that it helped the people to get free treatment.

Meanwhile, Dildar Khan, former district general secretary of PML-N, said on Tuesday that he would stay away from party politics because of his domestic engagements.

“I could no longer work as an active member in the party politics due to my domestic engagements,” said Mr Dildar who remained the party’s general secretary for two decades and resigned from the slot two days ago.

CARS RECOVERED: The police recovered two stolen cars and have arrested a car lifter. Nazim Khan, anti-car lifting head, said he along with other staff arrested one Murad Ali of Karnal Sher Khan Kallay and recovered two stolen cars. He said that during investigation Mr Ali also disclosed the name of his accomplice.
