LAHORE: The Lahore Gymkhana is geared for the elections 2020 as former chairman Mian Misbahur Rehman launched his 12-member panel at a mass gathering of club members at a local hotel on Friday.
Elections will be held on Feb 1 as the outgoing club organising body has completed its three-year term.
Patronised by Salman Siddique and Faridud Din, panel members are: Mian Misbahur Rehman, Dr Jawad Sajid Khan, Dr Ali Razaque, Samira Maroof Khan, Mian Parvez Bhandara, Sarmad Nadeem, Agha Ali Imam, Zahid Nabi Malik, Parvez Bashir Agha, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed Chaudhry, Wajid Aziz Khan and Taimur Azmat Osman.
Mr Rehman and Dr Khan announced that their panel would reduce organising body term from three years to one year, and if elected, they would resign after one year – even if other elected members decided not to leave their offices for re-election. Speakers at the panel launch event also questioned outgoing body’s decision of spending huge club money on its expansion, alterations and repairs. They said that the new body would launch an audit of extravagant spendings during the past three years.
Outgoing Kamran Lashari panel will formally be launched on Jan 13 (Monday). The panel members are: Kamran Lashari, Khawaja Imran Zubair, Shaukat Javed, Samiur Rahman, Ahsan Saeed Mian, Mian Javed Zahur, Dr Syed Atif Hasnain Kazmi, Qamar Khan (Bobby), Syed Tayyab Hussain Rizvi, Rabeea Salman, Zil a Ilahi and Prof Dr Col Iffat Batool.
