PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private School Regulatory Authority has fined 34 private educational institutions for flouting the government’s decision regarding the extension of the winter vacation until Jan 12.
A senior PSRA official told Dawn that around Rs1 million fine had been collected in the last three days.
He said the PSRA had also suspended the registration of Hadaf College for Boys, Ring Road, Peshawar, for violating the government’s decision on the winter vacation extension twice despite the issuance of a warning and imposition of fine.
The college’s registration has been suspended for two months on account of irregularities with were conveyed to institutions but the latter has failed to reply/resolve the irregularities, reads a notification issued by the PSRA.
“The school will be required to comply with the KP-PSRA Act 2017/Regulations and will not be allowed to admit new students within the period of suspension,” read the notification.
It added that in case of failure or non-implementation, the authority could de-register the school under Clause 5(8) and (9) of the regulations and would make arrangements for the shifting of students from the de-registered school to others in private and public sectors.
The other educational institutions fined by the PSRA included Knowledge City School System, Tehkal Payan, Peshawar, Generation Model School and College, Allama Pak-Turk International School and College, Hayatabad, the Eden Islamic School and the Educators School, Rahatabad, Peshawar.
The winter vacation had begun in the plain areas of the province on Dec 22 and was to last until Dec 31. However, it was extended twice first until Jan 7 and then until Jan 12 due to the biting cold.
