LAHORE: Politicians, particularly PML-N and PPP leaders, have been urged to defy summons issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in ‘frivolous’ cases.

“Political figures, particularly leaders of the PML-N and PPP, should not appear before the NAB in response to notices being issued to them by the bureau in frivolous cases and follow Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in daring the authorities to arrest them,” former president of Awami National Party, Ehsan Wyne, said here on Tuesday.

Condemning the NAB notices, he said in a statement here that the arrests being made by the bureau allegedly at the behest of the government showed that attempts were being made to establish a one-party rule in the country.

He argued that the leaders should display “political ego” by defying the NAB notices and daring it to arrest them from their respective offices or houses, exposing the government’s role in the cases.
