SWABI: The district administration retrieved 11 kanals of valuable land from the local traders during an anti-encroachment operation here the other day.

The officials of TMA and revenue department accompanied by a police party participated in the operation carried out in Tandkoi main bazaar.

Swabi tehsil assistant commissioner Dr Ihtesham told mediapersons that the property was cleared with the help of excavators. He said that traders at Tandkoi bazaar were already informed to leave the public property, but when they failed the administration took action. The traders did not resist the operation.

Answering a question, he said that the property worth Rs120 million had been recovered. He said that 20 shops were demolished while parts of 90 other shops and four hotels were removed to clear the land.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead by his rivals over a petty issue.

According to an FIR registered in Kalu Khan police station, one Sajjid Zaman, who had returned from Germany a few days ago, was attacked by his neighbours after exchange of hot words.
