SWABI: Officials of the excise intelligence (EIB-4) foiled an attempt to smuggle 105 kilogrammes of drugs to Punjab here on Friday.

After a tip-off that drugs would be smuggled to Punjab in a car from the tribal region via Swabi-Jehangira road, the EIB officials increased patrolling and checking of vehicles.

They stopped a suspected car (LE-4079) and during search recovered 64kg

charas and 41kg opium from its different sections.

The contrabands were put in small bags and skillfully sealed in different sections of the car.

The EIB team also arrested Ihsan Nazir and Aqib Ali, who belonged to Lahore and Sahiwal, respectively.

According to the officials, the two persons had admitted to their involvement in smuggling g of drugs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab. A case has been registered against them.

Meanwhile, the police recovered over three kilogrammes charas and arrested two people on Friday. The arrested persons were identified as Shah Fahad and Siyar Ali. A case has been registered against them under the drugs law.
