THE WEEK THAT WAS

Hania | ARY, Thursdays 8.00pm

The writer (Door Way Entertainment) is forcing mystery and intrigue down our throats but weak direction (Qasim Ali Mureed) means it doesn’t quite give us goosebumps. Hania (Zoya Nasir) is away from the evil clutches of her husband Junaid (Junaid Khan) and powerful in-laws who are into some big, bad, shady business that the police is after, but about which, surprisingly, they can’t seem to find any proof.

Junaid, however, pulls other mean tricks to pressurise her family into sending Hania back to him. Hania’s father (Waseem Abbas) is hit by a car in a cunningly planned traffic accident and then her sister Maira (Ghana Ali) is kidnapped. Finally, Junaid blackmails Hania into coming back to him, lest she wants her sister killed.

Kamzarf | Geo TV, Tuesdays 8.00pm

Holier-than-thou matriarchal elder sister Aima (Nadia Khan) has always snubbed everyone for not measuring up to her high standards. But the cat is just about to come out of the bag when her family finds out what a scumbag Nabeel (Ally Khan) is, and that she is secretly married to him.

As Nabeel officially asks for Aima’s hand in marriage, her brothers Azar (Junaid Khan) and Asim (Ali Ansari) are all set to verify evidence that he is already married, a liar and just after Aima’s money.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

Inkaar | Hum TV, Mondays 8.00pm

Rehan Chaudhary (Imran Ashraf), Shayan (Sami Khan) and Hajra (Yumna Ziadi) are all university classmates. Just as Hajra is recovering from heartbreak caused by Rehan, a powerful politician’s son, and agrees to marry Shayan who loves her so much that he stalks her, Rehan tells her that the room where he had tried to rape her had been arranged for him by her present fiancé, Shayan.

Shayan doesn’t deny it and is ready to explain, but Hajra doesn’t know which of the men is sincere in their love and who she can trust. Writer Zafar Mairaj and director Kashif Nisar are at their best here in creating a realistic story with intrigue and pace engendering genuine curiousity.
