SWABI: The first task for the newly-elected district president of Awami National Party, Amanullah Khan, is to unite the workers and resolve internal differences to boost the party in Swabi, say insiders.

Mr Amanullah group emerged victorious by defeating Awwal Sher group in the elections held three days ago.

In a chat with this scribe on Wednesday, local leaders said that the first mission for the new president was to unite the party and achieve the past glory in the district which had remained a stronghold of ANP. However, in 2018 elections Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf won from all the seven constituencies of the district.

Mohammad Ishfaq, a legal advisor of the party, said that they had to work hard for winning the support of youth. “The role of youth is dominant and extremely important for us,” he said.

Insiders say rift exists in the party

Sources said that Awwal Sher and Mohammad Islam, who opposed Mr Amanullah in the election, did not visit his residence to congratulate him and other office-bearers.

When contacted, Mr Sher said they would support steps for strengthening of party in the district.

Sources, however, said that a day before the election party’s provincial president Ameer Haidar Hoti had sent Himyatullah Mayar to hold talks with the two groups and convince them to finalise consensus candidates and avoid rivalry, but the mission failed to achieve success.

When asked, Senator Sitara Ayaz said that she also was not in favour of the election.

MAN TRICKED AT ATM: An unidentified girl and her male colleague allegedly tricked a villager and withdrew cash using his ATM card.

Adil Khan, a resident of Zaida village, was allegedly deprived of his ATM card and cash on March 2.The report in this regard went viral on social media on Wednesday in which Mr Adil said that he was withdrawing g cash through ATM card in Zaida market when a man and girl standing there told him that there was some problem in ATM.

On the pretext of helping him they noted his pin code and replaced his card with another one of the same bank and later withdrew Rs14,000 cash from his account, turning his balance to zero. “I came to know about this on Wednesday when I checked my balance at the bank,” he said. He stated that he had informed the police about the incident.
