SWABI: A new case of dengue fever has been detected in Topi city after a man reportedly died of the victor-borne disease two days ago.

It was learnt that a man identified as Haroon Khan of Topi city had been suffering from dengue fever and he was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, for treatment.

Sources in the health department said that if a person from the district suffered from dengue fever, the health officials here were immediately informed by the provincial health directorate about it.

When contacted, district health officer Dr Niaz Mohammad told this correspondent that they knew about the case and the provincial health officials had informed them about it.

“We knew that his case was positive and we have taken various steps for keeping the disease under control,” he said.

A district health team also visited the house of the patient and found that none of other members of his family was suffering from dengue fever.

Two days ago, one Alamzeb of Topi city died of dengue fever. It has been learnt that he was a butcher and would visit Punjab for buying animals. About Alamzeb, Dr Niaz said that when he learnt about the incident, he sent a team to the house to see his family, but all of them were safe.

He said that there was no record of Alamzeb with them because he was in CMH who did not sent the report to the provincial health directorate.
