THE recent misogynous diatribe by many politicians in recent days and the justified contemptuous reaction by society and many television anchors hosts prompts me to offer, especially the electronic news media, a suggestion on how to deal with such people.

Stop mentioning their names or showing their pictures. If at all they have to refer to these people, then address them by their surname, sans any prefix like Mr or honourable.

This policy should be applied to all public personalities who use unacceptable speech whether on social media or public gatherings or the assemblies.

If this country does not take stringent action, this nation, especially women, will have to learn to live with such uncouth behaviour.
