KARACHI: A key Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi leader, who was considered to be Afaq Ahmed’s second-in-command, has joined the Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party.

Senior vice chairman of the MQM-H Shamshad Ghori with two other office-bearers — Kashif Mughal and Raeesur Rehman — told a press conference on Saturday that he joined the PSP because he was “inspired by the thoughts and philosophy” of Mr Kamal.

Speaking on the occasion, PSP chief Kamal welcomed the new entrants to his party. He said Mr Ghori was a senior political worker and it was a good omen that people were quitting their decades-long political association to join PSP.

He said he did not want to make more enemies for Mohajirs.

He said he did not have any personal enmity with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, but the Mohajirs should understand that “the brand MQM has become notorious in Pakistan” and the people of the country would believe any allegation levelled against it.
