Hungary celebrated its national day and 50 years of diplomatic relations with Pakistan last week. A seasoned foreign guest called the celebration “the best [they had] attended”.

“The posters that were displayed at the entrance were informative, and the decorations on the stage were beautiful. The music played in the background was by famous Hungarian composers, and I was reminded that Hungary belongs to Europe’s old stock of culture and aristocracy,” the guest said. In his speech, Hungarian ambassador Istvan Szabo said that Hungary’s economy is among the fastest growing economies in Europe.

“Today I say it is the fastest growing economy,” he said.

The ambassador announced that Hungary recently decided to offer 80 scholarships for higher education in Hungary.

Hungary’s Deputy Minister of State Szilveszter Bus gave a speech on Hungary and Hungary-Pakistan relations. He thanked the Hungarian company MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Co B.V for its important work in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The chief guest, Federal Minister of Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan appreciated the commercial and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
