QUETTA: The Pakistan Army has trained 150 Levies personnel in Balochistan, with their passing out parade held on Friday.

The Levies personnel were trained in Quetta Cantonment, with the army imparting modern training to expand upon their operational capacity.

“The Levies force is being trained to wipe out the curse of terrorism from the province and to ensure capacity building for security forces in Balochistan,” said Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch.

The chief minister added that the Levies administratively control more than 90 per cent of Balochistan and they play an important role in maintaining law and order in the province.

During the passing out parade, the Levies personnel demonstrated their skills in martial arts, counter terrorism and targeted operation drills during the ceremony held at Quetta cantonment.

Those in attendance at the ceremony included Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch, Major General Aftab, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha and other military and civilian leaders.

Pakistan Army has trained more than 4,000 Levies personnel during the last few years, helping them build capacity and deal with emerging security scenarios.

Security forces have intensified their actions in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan after the announcement of the National Action Plan to combat terrorism in the country.
