ABBOTTABAD: About 135 of the total 616 polling stations have been declared ‘most sensitive’ and 250 ‘sensitive’ in Abbottabad district.

District police officer Sher Akbar Khan said that the election commission had established 616 polling stations for the forthcoming local government elections in the district. He said that due to sensitive situation in some areas the contesting candidates had been asked to keep close liaison with the police.

He said that the commissioner chaired a meeting at his office, which reviewed the law and order situation in Hazara division. It was attended by DIG Hazara and all DPOs of Hazara range.

Mr Akbar said that security plan for each district was discussed and additional force was demanded for the election. He said that army and FC troops could be deployed with police to ensure peace during elections.

He said that under the security plan a special monitoring cell was established at the DPO office and the patrolling of police had been increased. He said that police and other law enforcement agencies would keep close liaison to implement the election code of conduct. He said that the SHOs would hold frequent meetings with the candidates to ensure that there was no disturbance during the elections in their respective areas.

GALYAT ROADS: The provincial government is focusing on the development of infrastructure in Galyat, especially reconstruction of roads. Currently, work is in progress on three road projects and the C&W officials have been asked for timely completion of these projects.

This was stated by Akbar Ayub Khan, adviser to the CM on communication and works, while inspecting work on 23km Bara Gali-Nathiagali road. He also inspected the construction and renovation work on Koza Gali-Ayubia and Mochi Tahara-Pine Chowk (Nathiagali) roads.

On this occasion, he ordered construction of entrance gate at Bara Gali on the main Abbottabad-Nathiagali road. The adviser asked the officials to ensure quality work, as all these projects were being carried out to facilitate the residents and tourists.
