I think he did the right thing . Who wants to be the CEC when Imran Khan has nothing better to do than bad mouth every one that he does not like. The entire situation has turned so negative for every one and every institution.

Societies that have a dearth of good people die sooner or later. We are witnessing a total lack of good, honest, non-controversial persons in Pakistan. We cannot find even one person for CEC position who is above and beyond any controversy. Now, the only question to be answered is whether our society is facing a slow death or a quick death.

Both Gilani and Bhagwandas be commended not to let greed overcome what would have been an unethical practice.

Whereas in India the post of CEC is a coveted one, Last two to three decades have seen some really good administrators adorning and elevating the dignity of the post to the greatest height in its credibility and unbiased transparency true to the highest value of Democracy. But in Pakistan, it's the most contravarsial post whch no one wants to take up including former judges. Irony.

Thanks to Imran Khan! I wonder if he realizes that his lust for power is beginning to hurt institutions. If he is serious in his claims then he should be working towards strengthening them, and not be little them all the time.

Thank God. It is not some integrity in the man speaking but pressure of PTI. He is a far sighted man who knows his fate if PTI comes into power. He chooses his battles.

After the politicization of the post of CEC no self-respecting man of integrity would accept that post. Fakhro Bhai had the long career as an honest and upright judge. What have they done to his reputation without shame? There is no shame in character assassination of even the most honest person and the same parties would lose again in the next elections and it would be repeated all over again. It is almost time that no man of honor and integrity would accept public service position. Every post and position would be left for the big mouth self-proclaimed leaders of our poor country. Nobody deserves this kind of mudslinging and scrutiny of judges of highest character at the later stages of their lives.

Justice (r) Tariq Pervez seems to be the only consensus and non-politically inclined person to lead the CEC.

It is the high time to consider baseless allegations of Imran Khan against the elite educated class of Pakistan... It is really a sad news that nobody is ready to accept is crucial top slot.......Imran Khan should be made CEC....

Most of these comments are against Imran Khan. I am surprised by the ignorance of Pakistani's. The basic fact is that the system has failed. Every politician is corrupt. It needs to be revived. You need to take drastic actions, the kind Imran Khan is proposing. Don't lose the sight of basic problem. Let Imran do what he is trying to do - revamp the system. If you miss this chance, you will be doomed for ever.

Imran Khan first said good things about Justice Fakharuddin Ibrahim then bad mouthed him...praised Iftikhar CHoudhary then bad mouthed him and now he is voting for Nasir Aslam Zahid...only a matter of time he will start to tarnish his image too...I have a better solution...Mr. Khan should make himself the CEC or his buddy Sheikh Rasheed the CEC...that way only Imran will win and Tabdeeli AA jaay gee jaise tabdeeli aa gayee hai KPK mein!!!!!

This is the real change actually... 2013 election was full of controversies and was not free and fair who was responsible? who had the the responsibility to hold free and fair election? off course it was Election Commission and CEC of Pakistan F. Gibrahim. now everyone feeling pressure to take this post and no body will take it for granted as in the past and will have to performed under such a massive pressure and we will see better results. this is the change we never saw such change before everyone take it for granted and credits goes to Imran khan. critics will always criticize IK but he is hero for now in this matter..

Nothing could be more wiser than the decision of declining from being a nominated as the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), With age-related conjunctive decline Justice Fakhruddin G. Ibharim accepted the post of CEC and made a laughing stock of himself. No CEC without adequate powers will be able to conduct an honest, free and fair election when the whole body is corrupt.

Let Nasir Aslam zahid be the CEC and then watch IK taking a U turn when elections results are not in his favor. Lately he was praising Tassaduq Hussain Jilani and within weeks IK has discarded him. It's time, someone should stand against this bully.

All those who are saying that he didn't accept because of IK? May be it's true. But may be they don't accept it because they don't want to be NSs pawn anymore. They don't have a free hand and they know they can't do justice to elections with sharif brothers sitting on top with a knife in their hand. And IK praised Iftikhar earlier -- yes --- but that doesn't mean that he ( Iftikhar)intentionally or unknowingly didn't become part of a rigged election ---- may be that's why no body wants the post now( likely reason). After all if there really was no rigging--- there is NO reason as to why there can't be a recount / especially those 4 seats. If I don't have the stolen goods I can have anyone come and check my house anytime -- but if I do have the stolen goods - I will never allow anyone to enter my house --- If I tell the cops -- I'm not letting you in to check but trust me , I don't have the good! Lol --what's the next step??? A warrant --- what if the court tells the police -- trust him -- no warrants are issued Does that put a big question mark on the court???

The only solution is to put Imran Khan in jail because he has indulged in the bad habit of scandalizing the honorable people in his lust for power. Incidentally, he indulges in bad-mouthing only against the retired persons (whom he had praised when they were in office!).

The problem is not that Imran Khan has shown reservations on Ex-CJ but the actual cause goes to the appointment of Superior Courts Judges in Pakistan. It is an open secret that in Pakistan Superior Courts (majority) Judges is elevated from the Advocates and it is also an open secret now that the appointments are made in a less transparent manners on the basis of political affiliations, personal liking and connections etc etc. Due to this questionable method of selection of superior courts judges, their neutrality is being always questioned. You name any judge, serving or retired, one or the other political party would object his/her neutrality because of the said judge having connections with one or the other political party before his/her elevation to the bench. Address this important issue first, you will not find any political leader objecting to the credentials of any serving or retired judge of the superior court and you will find no judge (serving or retired) refusing to accept responsibility of a national character.
