PESHAWAR: The Communication and Media Studies Department of Sarhad University, Peshawar, conducted auditions of students for the campus radio, which started its test transmission on the web here on Saturday.

A large number of students of journalism, pharmacy, education, B. Tech, and engineering departments attended the auditions to be part of the campus radio.

The faculty of communication and media studies department, including Waseem Khattak and Akhtar Ali, took auditions of the students.

Waseem Khattak told Dawn that the campus radio would run regular transmission on the web and soon it would be formally launched.

He said that as test transmission the campus radio would relay a news bulletin, university round-up, a Pashto programme to introduce various departments of the university and an Urdu programme, ‘Aaj Ki Shakhsiyat’, which would be based on the interviews of the faculty members. On formal launch of the radio, more programmes would be included.
