KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari who apart from his occasional fiery public speeches also makes news on account of his controversial tweets on Friday tweeted: “If my tweets freak you out so much wait and see what I can do from Parliament.”

Some of his recent contentious remarks on the social networking website relate to the treason trial of former military dictator General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

In a sarcastic note that followed Musharraf’s transfer to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday, Bilawal wrote: “I can’t believe this coward ever wore the uniform of our brave and courageous armed forces.”

He further said: “All medical excuses must be verified by an independent board of doctors. I have an ouchy is no excuses (sic) to skip your treason case.”

In the past, the PPP chairman has also blamed Musharraf for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

In May last year, Bilawal had accused Musharraf of sabotaging his mother’s security when she returned to Pakistan in 2007, saying the former military ruler had “murdered” his mother.

Apart from his recent tweets regarding Musharraf, he has also posted remarks condemning the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as well as the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) when its chief Syed Munawwar Hasan said Pakistani soldiers losing their lives in military operations and bombings were not martyrs.

The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf and its chairman Imran Khan have also been a subject of derision in the comments posted on the PPP chairman's Twitter account.

@murad afridi: Bilawal Zardari, under what law does he become Bhutto; he is behaving as an uneducated person, who things he & his family own the country. It is know that in UK, at university he was the most useless student and only because of his family connections was projected as bright student. Learn to behave before you become a leader.

In my opinion Bilawal is not at all a matured person with no matters. He thinks he can ride high on the strength of Zardaris and PPP, he is mistaken. Grow up before you start getting whips in Parliament.

Yes, your presence in Parliament might provide some energy to PPP MPs who it seems badly need it at present. They need it to act like an opposition party. Though over the years PPP has lost its character but its opponents treat it in the same way they were doing in70s. Their reaction only strengthens the party.

I personally wont be surprised if he makes to the parliament... I would never understand what is flawed, the system or the people... one has to clean the other, but in our case, its just getting messier every time. "Pakistan ka Allah hi Hafiz", were for sure the best calculated words by a great man.

It is pathetic that Muslim League &PPP are making politics out of the former president Musharraf cardiac problem. Amongst sensitive societies even allowances is made for faked illnesses. Attack on former president relating to his illness is indicative that Pakistan society lacks compassion and ordinary decency. EEC should with draw preferential treatment given to Pakistan for failing to conform to the spirit of the Fundamental Human Right Convention of EEC reflected in attack on Musharraf by the party in power in Pakistan. Former President Zardari pleaded mental stress in the Court relating to money laundering and other charges and ended as President of Pakistan, plundered it like Nero did to the Roman Empire. Bilawal should not emulate is family in politics. He needs a responsible mentor By the way he talks absurd of responsibility for his mothers death.. The responsibility of any Citizen is the responsibility of the Government initially the Punjab and Pakistan Governments.

first of all he was born a Zardari it was his father who stated that he will also be called Bhutto once his mother died- dirty politics. shall i tell you what will freak me out is if he is elected to parliment - it will be the distruction of the institution. Its time for the people to choose a leader who is not connected to a dynastic family. everyday I pray for a true leader to come forward even though hope is little i will never give up hope

@JJ: you do not need any law to show your entity --- by birth from Benazir he inherits ZAB features, and by position he is half chairman of PPP like his father owned the half chairmanship -- so he is TWO IN ONE -- a combination of Bhuttos-- benazir and /zulfiquar and Zardari so he can mathematically not legally claim to be 2/3 bhutto and 1/3 zardari, to show his majority of Bhutto EGOIMS.

Like it or not but this is real Pakistani Politics. By the time election took place in 2018 not much will change, so be ready to embrace another bhutto (zardari). Pakistani politics is a thriller and full action drama where characters change but the theme remain same. We tested PML, PPP and now PTI and they all turned the same dharna and ehtajaaj parties. Bilawal! Don't worry I will vote for you. You are BIBI's son and bhutto's grandson + youth. I will give you a chance. the flops try to get attention by criticising the successful and famous personalities. this is what bilawal is trying to do but he just don't have what it takes to become a great leader. to be successful you have to first respect the senior leaders even when you have difference of opinion. Musharrraf did good for the masses when he was in power. what did ppp do during their 5 years term. nothing and really nothing.

Let him say what he pleases. Needless to mention the age difference. I would suggest Mr. Bilawal to step down, get reasonable experience of life then join politics from middle level. His father Mr. Asif is much more capable and healthy politician. Lets never forget that what we had got was during Mr. Musharraf rule, and what we are losing is in democracy.

regardless if which party you support, most of the leaders in Pakistan to some degree earned their way into the position, from Imran to some degree even Nawaz Sharif. Bilawal simply was born into a family, that is why the bhutto name doesn't mean anything anymore. Its another excuse to continue feudalism. Prove yourself in doing something for Pakistan first, then see if you are worthy of becoming a leader. The PPP should take the cue from PTI and implement democracy in the party process first, before they can claim to be the voice of democracy.

I could not understand the logic of all these comments, both in favor of or against Bilawal. Is there any significance of claiming that he is not mature? how can he be at this stage? He is just an entrant. Truth is (though very unfortunate), he is going to be our next leader, just as Mariam and Hamza are going to be. If we could create a choice of having somebody other then these three then its well, otherwise Bilawal's comparison is with Hamza and Mariam, not with ZAB or Benazeer or Zardari or Sharif. If I am forced to chose one out of these 3, for sure I am not going to chose Hamza at least. Not sure about the other 2 at this stage. To me, Bilawal looks less hippocrate as the other two. The best that we can do is to search for somebody among our ranks other then these wealthy kids of professional politicians. If we don't have enough courage that put these 3 in fair trial to force them to improve as much as possible

To assume that he is God's gift to Pakistan is reprehensible, What nerve, what audacity. One only needs to look at his Dad's stellar accomplishments.
