Promotional messages

Published December 31, 2013

THIS is apropos ‘Unwanted SMS’ (Dec 25). I agree with the writer. It is sometimes very annoying when mobile network providers keep on sending promotional messages while the customer doesn’t want any. The main purpose behind this activity could be marketing of their services.

Marketing has its own rules and it is effective only when done by its principles. And in this case, it is being misused by the mobile network companies. Although they do have a system of stopping these worthless promotional messages on any number on request, yet they keep on disturbing the customers. Not only does it disturb the customers, but it also builds a negative image of the company. I myself have made such a request a couple of times but to no avail. It is time PTA took action against this unprofessional behaviour of the mobile phone operators.
