KARACHI, May 4: Spinner Sohaib Hussain grabbed a seven-wicket haul to inspire Malir Gymkhana to an exciting four-run victory over Landhi Friends in the Mehdi Hasan Memorial KCCA Inter-club Cricket Tournament fixture at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground here on Friday.

Batting first, Malir Gymkhana rode on half-centuries from Ariz Kamal (58 with three boundaries and one six) and Daniyal Ahsan (57 with three sixes and as many fours) to post 193 all out in 39.3 overs.

Landhi Friends, in reply, were restricted to 189-9 in their allotted 50 overs with Mujahid Hussain scoring 58 (four fours and one six) and Faizan Khan 40. Sohaib, the man responsible for pegging them back, finished with magnificent analysis of seven wickets for 20 runs.

Meanwhile in the two matches played on Thursday, Dawood Sports defeated Faisal Gymkhana by seven wickets at the TMC Ground, while Al-Noor Gymkhana overwhelmed Korangi Al-Fateh CC by 114 runs at the KCCA Stadium.

Veteran first-class cricketer Saeed bin Nasir, who once was on fringe on playing Test cricket, starred in Dawood Sports’ success with three wickets for 29 runs with his occasional off-spinners and a knock of 51 that included six hits to the fence. His younger brother Ahmer struck an unconquered 79 (six boundaries) as Dawood Sports won with 27 deliveries to spare.

Former Pakistan Under-19 all-rounder Ahmed Iqbal slammed an unbeaten 88 (five fours) for the victorious Al-Noor Gymkhana side in the other game.
