THIS is apropos of the careless attitude of our post offices that they fail to deliver what they are supposed to. Recently I ordered the admission prospectus of West Minster University, UK, online from their website.

I got the confirmation mail from them that I would be delivered the requested particulars within 14 days because I was among the overseas category.

I waited for the said period and on the 20th day I was shocked to know that what I was delivered was a large glossy envelope of the university which was torn off and cheaply mended with candle flame before delivery. It contained a soiled cover letter mentioning that the enclosed matter was the university prospectus and business school brochure. Interestingly, both were absent except the cover letter.

However, with a great disappointment I mailed to them about this issue and they responded me and gave me the option to download the PDF format of prospectus. The university administration felt sorry for such an incident.

I want to ask the officials concerned of the postal department what was the need of sending me even the cover letter. It would have been better had they not delivered me anything.

What image our postal service authorities are portraying on the public, the international community and, especially the country’s youth.

The Pakistan Post was established with an aim to provide the public a cost-effective service with the commitment of honesty, faith and dedication.

We, in our school lessons, have learnt honesty and hard work of a postal department and their postmen who perform their duty to their best in spite of any obstacles and harsh weather which now has become history. I hope the authorities concerned will do their utmost to prevent any further destruction of the postal department and take concrete steps to improve the standard of postal services and the dignity of the postal staff as well.
