KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) is facing a dilemma to find a suitable place – either in Karachi or Lahore — to install three of the four imported snooker tables that have been shipped by cue sports manufacturer from China and would reach here early next month.

“The PBSA is running from pillar to post since a long time to get premises for the proposed academies in the two provincial capitals but in vain,” an official of the PBSA told Dawn.

PBSA’s top priority is to lay the tables in Karachi, which also housed its headquarters, said its president adding that despite hectic efforts to get a venue from the government no breakthrough has been made yet.

He said initially the PBSA was supposed to get some place in the PSB Coaching Centre here but following the 18th amendment the programme has been shelved.

“We have also apprised the provincial secretary sports in this regard,” he added.

Referring to Lahore, the official said he had written at least three to four letters to the Punjab chief minister pertaining to a place for the academy but failed to get any response.

He lamented that it’s unfortunate that 11 players in the top 20 hail from Punjab including the top ranked cueists Imran Shehzad but the provincial government was not willing to share our burden.

He, however, disclosed that Agriculture University Faisalabad has shown its willingness to provide premises for the promotion of game.

As for the fourth table he said it will be kept by PBSA and used for semi-finals and finals when and where needed.
