LAHORE, Feb 10 Fancied four-year-old chestnut colt Sher-e-Sialkot charged down the home stretch to easily complete a hat-trick of victories during the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

Ridden by his regular partner in the saddle, apprentice Ahsan Raza, and trained by Mohammad Rafiq Khan, Sher-e-Sialkot had an amazing 10 lengths to spare over the bay gelding Jal Thal at the finishing line with bay filly Roshni II a length away at third place in a big field of 18 runners.

Sher-e-Sialkot had earlier won two back-to-back races on Jan 13 and Jan 20. The Gujrat Plate, class VII, division II contested over 900 metres was the third race of the seven-event card decided in the afternoon.

The best performer of the day was the four-year-old chestnut filly Shams-un-Nisa, who welcomed her owner Syed Pervez Hussain's return from abroad by winning the fifth race.

The daughter of Bedouin Invader out-of-Bandgi, Sham-un-Nisa, who has been trained by Sohail Aziz, was smartly ridden by jockey Shakeel Mahmood to register half-a-length's success over dark-bay horse Racing Legend in a closely-contested race between four runners.

Mare Shah Pari finished third, a length behind, with chestnut Sikander edging the frame among the 17 runners.

Landing the feature event easily, dark-bay gelding Najoomi II, ridden by Farid Ali, took his winning streak to four. He beat three-year-old chestnut colt Focus by four-and-a-half lengths. Focus nosed out mare Pawan Princess to third position. The well-backed bay colt Victory Show put up a disappointing show to complete the board among the 18 runners.

The midweek races were keenly contested. Four to six horses in each race became public fancies resulting in exciting finishes to the great delight of the connoisseurs of equine sports. This was evident from the results where neither any trainer nor rider could manage more than one victory during the day's proceedings.
