KARACHI: DHA City balloting

Published November 6, 2009

KARACHI, Nov 5 Around 20,000 plots of different sizes in DHA City have been allotted to people in different categories in the balloting held at the convention hall of the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club on Thursday.

Last week, the balloting had to be postponed due to the detection of a flaw in the database of the DHA computer system at the eleventh hour. However, this time, modern and error-free software specifically designed for the purpose was used for the ballot, which was conducted by PAF Faisal Base Commander Air Commodore Akmal Hussain, who is also a member of the DHA Executive Board.

Applications for the allotment of plots in DHA City were sought from the public on July 28. More than 40,000 people applied for residential and commercial plots in the scheme.

All the handicapped persons both military and civil (121) who had applied for the scheme were allotted plots without balloting. The results were displayed on big screens for viewing by the participants of the ceremony. The results have also been uploaded on the DHA website (www.dhakarachi.org) and will be available in branches of different commercial banks.

DHA Administrator Brig Khalid Tirmizi in his address thanked the applicants, particularly overseas Pakistanis, for their overwhelming response to the project.—APP
