SAN FRANCISCO: French videogame star Ubisoft on Thursday unleashed enchantingly wacky “Rabbids” characters on Apple's coveted iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices.

Along with releasing “Rabbids Go” games for Apple gadgets, Ubisoft launched a “Rabbids: Invasion” title tailored for play at leading online social network Facebook.

“For the first time, the Rabbids are taking over the App Store,” Ubisoft said in a release, promising that players would be able to “tickle, shake, tease and play tricks on their captive Rabbids.”The Facebook title lets players “wreak havoc and spread mayhem” at the social network while building virtual empires by cultivating burgers, stinky cheese and other bizarre products, according to Ubisoft.

Ubisoft has been aggressively courting players in Internet Age venues by making versions of its hit console videogames available for mobile gadgets and online social networks.

The Facebook game is free to play, while App store versions are available for 99 cents or $1.99.
