One of the best ways to dream big and have high aims is to read about the dreams of those who have made it big and changed the world with their revolutionary and imaginative ideas. By reading about remarkable personalities we not only learn about what they did but also how they didn't let obstacles defeat them or ruin their plans and stop them from achieving their dream.
The book is divided into three sections, Leaders and Empire Builders, Heroes and Discoverers, and Artists, Athletes and Scientists. There will be many who will come up with a list of important names that don't crop up here at all but it probably was not because those people were not important enough. While I couldn't find any explanation for the choice of the personalities listed here, it probably seems a random selection by the publishers. For among the scientists there is no mention of Madam Curie but that of Jane Goodall, the woman who lived for years in the jungles of Africa and studied chimpanzees.
In the first section of Leaders and Empire Builders, the first chapter is on Ashoka, followed by Julius Caesar and then Fidel Castro! There is also our dear Mohammad Ali Jinnah, then Nelson Mandela, Mao Zedong, Anwar el-Sadat, Elizabeth I, Etc.
Heroes and Discoverers starts with Anne Frank and ends on Mother Teresa, with others like Martin Luther King Jr, Tenzing Norgay, Ferdinand Mageilan, and Mahatma Gandhi in between them. Thus it is very clear that the choice or the arrangement is not according to the merit of these personalities indeed.
However, Remarkable Personalities offers an interesting opportunity for children to learn about interesting people through articles, fun facts and pictures.
