MULTAN, May 24 The Punjab government has transferred 120 acres of land to the Bahauddin Zakariya University for its Layyah sub-campus.

BZU vice-chancellor Dr Zaffarullah said here on Monday that the university would establish an agriculture research institute and a livestock department in the Layyah sub-campus to help improve the economic and social development in the area.

He said initially the classes in the Layyah sub-campus, established in September 2009, were started in four disciplines — MBA, Economics, psychology and English.

MPA Mahr Ejaz Achlana said the Punjab government had released seed money of Rs46.6 million and parliamentarians of the Layyah district had decided to engage the Higher Education Commission in this project.
